Many people do not realize the importance the bitch plays in a breeding program. A puppy, or any dog for that matter, is composed of genes of which 50% are from the male and 50% from the female. Unfortunately, people interested in buying puppies choose a puppy primarily on who the stud dog is, not really giving the quality of the bitch much thought. This is a grave mistake because a stud dog, regardless of the caliber, cannot compensate for a poorly bred bitch. Most people that buy a puppy based on the stud dog tend to be disappointed as the puppy matures. This is why we place importance on excellent quality females in my breeding program. Anyone can breed to an exceptional stud dog, but not everyone has invested in a quality bitch.
